(Maurice Williamson)  The nasty boss was really fun to play, I would say he is worse than David Brent!
The piece was inspired by Artaud’s ‘Theatre of Cruelty’ and Freud's notions that the malice of modern society is due to the repression of our instinctive, unconscious, archetypal drives. Artaud believed theatre was the cure, and by witnessing acts of violence on stage the audience will feel a sense of "catharsis" a purging of these emotions. I am not saying that if you watch this show you will be cleansed of all bad intentions but you will certainly forget about them for a while.
'The paradox of Artaud lies in the fact that it is impossible to carry out his proposals. Does this mean he is wrong? Certainly not... He left vision, metaphors... Nevertheless, Artaud was a prophet'
Jerzy Grotowski, 'Towards a poor theatre' Methuen 1994

(Julian Andrews) We use Parkour training exercises to enhance, harness and control the use of explosive energy. Pyhsical theatre often stands on its own in theatre as a 'piece of physical theatre' and so what we try to do in Primal Theatre is integrate scenes of explosive movement into a clear narrative, relevant to traditional style of play. We try to avoid making a simple spectacle of Parkour/Acrobatic stunts and instead try to relate our physical scenes into a theatrical context; both visually impressive, and yet maintaining a clear, relative connection to the narrative. We aim to offer the audience a show that can be appreciated for its visually exciting scenes of physical movement, for its approach towards a situational reality, quick-witted dialogue, and unique characters. In Parkour the space has always created the art, the city becomes the equivalent of a blank canvas, while we are restricted to an indoor space/stage, we can use this confinement to contain intense energy. This show is unlike anything I've done before, and I'm certain is unlike anything you've ever seen or expected!
